Objectives:

1. Review and test your knowledge of the literary devices we have learned throughout the year so far, including tone and mood.

2. Read and comment on the idea of democracy as defined by Alex de Tocqueville.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.9-10.9 Analyze seminal U.S. documents of historical and literary significance (e.g., Washington’s Farewell Address, the Gettysburg Address, Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms speech, King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail”), including how they address related themes and concepts.

3. Demonstrate your ability to analyze literature by reading and commenting on Salinger's "The Laughing Man."
