Introduction to Mark TwainMark Twain grew up and became a famous author and humorist. He held a life long fascination with riverboats and the Mississippi River. He had a childhood wish to become a riverboat captain. This was a desire that he claimed to harbor into his old age.
Although Twain grew up in rural Mississippi, the setting of his two most famous novels, he did quite a bit of world traveling. These travels coupled with his upbringing merged to form Twain's unique literary style.
