How to Write a Literary Analysis

STEP 1: Read HOW TO WRITE A LITERARY ANALYSIS. This will be your road map writing guide.

STEP 2: This is an outline of what your Lit Analysis should look like.


1. Introduction (Paragraph #1)
a. Grabber (get the attention of your audience)
b. Orientate your reader
c. State your thesis

2. Body (Paragraph #2)

a. State main idea that supports your thesis.
b. Support idea with evidence (quotes and examples)
c. Comment on your evidence.

3. Body (Paragraph #3)

a. State main idea that supports your thesis.
b. Support idea with evidence (quotes and examples)
c. Comment on your evidence.

4.
Body (Paragraph #4)

a. State main idea that supports your thesis.
b. Support idea with evidence (quotes and examples)
c. Comment on your evidence.

5. Conclusion (Paragraph #5)
a. Tie all of the important points together and make one final statement about the main focus of your analysis.
b. Make you reader think.
