Autotrophs:
Organisms that generate their own energy. Also known as producers.

Biomes:
Communities of plants and animals living together under the same environmental conditions

Chemosynthesis:
Process by which hydrogen sulfide is processed for energy; similar to photosynthesis.

Food chain: Diagram that shows which organisms eat each other.

Food web: Diagram that shows how organisms relate to one another in complex ways; shows how energy moves through all of the organisms in an ecosystem.

Heterotrophs: Organisms that consume other organisms for energy. Also known as consumers.

Photosynthesis: Process by which plants and a few types of single-celled organisms use energy from the sun to transform carbon dioxide and water into a storable form of energy.
