Introduction to Week 6

Audition Guidelines

Each year, some eight to nine hundred student actors, all approximately the same age range and level of training, present themselves in five minute auditions to compete for one part or another.

The actor who is going to present an effective audition must be aware of the dynamics of the situation. A low key or too eccentric audition is going to meet with little success.

Auditions are essentially a process involving the weeding out of actors who are unsuitable for one reason or another. It is vital that you give yourself the best chance for success. This week you will learn some of the key guidelines that will enable you to be better prepared and more confident if you should decide to pursue some type of audition or public performance.
