Maintaining Biodiversity

There are several reasons for maintaining biodiversity.
- New kinds of crops may be more nutritious or disease resistant.
- Plants and bacteria may hold promise for new medicines.
- Healthy ecosystems mean healthy economies.
- Once biodiversity is gone, it is gone forever. An ecosystem may be revived, but it is never the same again.
